Chesson Set of Helios–Linium
Late Hellite Age
This reproduction of a chesson set is believed to have been cast in Linium during the late Hellite Age, a period marked by the city’s unmatched command of metallurgy and casting. The master smiths of Linium, with access to vast metal deposits unavailable elsewhere, developed techniques that surpassed those of contemporary cities in both durability and symbolic refinement.
Recovered fragments suggest the set was once owned by the royal household of Helios or Linium, likely commissioned for elite play rather than public use. Its restrained ornamentation, abstracted forms, and symbolic geometry reflect a cultural emphasis on authority and martial culture, over individual likeness.
This reproduction is based on surviving pieces and period casting practices, preserving both the material limitations and aesthetic intent of the original work.
