Geo-Locator
“World Compass”
-
This item was recovered with the Helium Academy of Archeology. Factory Artifact 1964-413.11
A device of unknown origin or mechanism, it was originally thought to be a form of magnetic compass. However, initial studies indicate the device functions as a geolocator able to provide bearings to any location on the planet. Evidential support for this hypothesis is supported by the memoirs of Xanthea of Helios, who describes a similar device in recovered memoirs.

The recovered device appears to still be functional, remarkable given its age.
Analysis has not yet conclusively identified the mechanism by which it functions. However, as described in the memoirs of Xanthea of Helios, the device does not appear to function as a magnetic compass. Instead, her companion describes it as a “displacement device.” In practice, this should not be possible, as errors should compound over time, rendering the device useless. However, this is clearly not the case. Further study is required.
